The AGR team understands that more law is made in the State Legislature, Congress, and through agency rule-making than in the courthouse. Changing the law is often more cost-effective for our clients than litigating existing law. Our Government Relations team represents the firm’s clients before local and county governments, the Maryland Legislature, the U.S. Congress, and the various state and federal agencies. Our extensive experience in Annapolis and Washington, D.C., allows us to creatively influence legislative and regulatory processes in order to ensure that our clients’ interests are protected and that their goals are achieved.
New bills, regulations, and funding mechanisms are constantly being introduced and changed in the local, state legislatures, federal governments, as well as relevant government agencies and executive branches. AGR has a proven track record in winning controversial healthcare, education, and employment issues and has represented many prominent related associations and trade industries.
AGR advocates on behalf of many non-profit organizations and small businesses before the necessary entities. We also provide many additional services for non-profits such as policy analysis, funding and procurement opportunities, and regulatory issue management at an affordable cost. We understand that many non-profit organizations and small businesses are understaffed, and operate on a very tight budget.
AGR maintains a robust association management practice. We are well equipped to handle both backroom and external aspects of all professional, trade, and business associations. Ashlar GR has significant experience establishing new associations and has successfully led the resurrection and complete overhaul of stagnant associations helping to progress a variety of interests.
AGR has niche expertise in national telecommunications corporations and technology firms. Outdated laws and regulations are in the process of changing to keep up with modern technological advancements. There is also growing concern regarding consumer privacy with present and future digitized data sharing practices as well as unnecessary taxes proposed for digital gaming and media. We are well-positioned to advocate in this industry.
AGR is well aware of all the burdensome red tape and other barriers related to transportation projects. We work hard on behalf of our clients to find solutions that make sense. At Ashlar GR we meet with community members to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems to build stronger and more resilient local communities.
Protecting vulnerable persons and underserved communities is something we are extremely passionate about. AGR utilizes existing relationships with the members of key legislative committees and executive branches to protect and promote the interests of our clients while mitigating the impact of unfavorable legislation, burdensome regulations, and new policies.
